EERA Summer School 2020- 22 – 26 June 2020- University of Jyväskylä, Finland
The European Educational Research Association (EERA), the University of Jyväskylä and the Finnish Educational Research Association (FERA) are pleased to announce the 2020 EERA Summer School which will be held at the Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
We invite 70 European doctoral students to a five-day Summer School 22 to 26 June 2020 on the topic „Beyond the Basics in Educational Research Methodology: Research ethics in educational research“.
The aim of the Summer School:
The aim of the EERA Summer School 2020 is to support the doctoral students in their endeavor in producing methodologically high quality research with sensitivity to ethical issues. It will:
• Provide PhD students with an opportunity to present and receive feedback on their research
• Participate in workshops related to their topic and/or methodology of research
• Meet senior researchers and other PhD students from different countries and educational cultures.
The Summer School will offer:
The summer school offers a mixture of lectures, workshops and a possibility to discuss one’s own research in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. During the summer school, the students will have a possibility to work in groups, which are organised based on research themes and methodological choices of their study. Plenty of group work will used such as shared poster creation, various types of discussions, and other participatory activities. Students will be advised and supervised by experienced researchers. In addition, students’ learning will be enhanced by inspiring, high quality key note lectures, social programme, and networking possibilities. The Summer School will be held in English. Students will get a certificate of participation including a suggestion of 3 ECT credits.
Who can apply and what does it cost?
Applicants are doctoral students who primarily come from or study in member countries of EERA. Their thesis must relate to educational research. Preferably, the participant should be a Ph.D. student in the first or second year of his/her studies in order to most benefit from the summer school.
The fee for the Summer School 2020 is 290 € (students from High GDP countries), 190 € (students from Low GDP countries) or 110 € (local students or students with self-organised accommodation). The fee covers tuition, accommodation (except for locals and self-organised), breakfast and lunch every day as well as the social programme. Participants will be expected to share a double room with a same-sex participant (a single room is possible with a surcharge).
Participants must cover their travel costs and they are expected to participate actively throughout the duration of the summer school.
