This position focusses on the systematic study of, and theorizing about, processes of educational innovation and school development. The selected candidate is expected to develop a research programme that centers on the interaction between the meso-level of the school and the broader institutional and policy context. This programme should be grounded in a pedagogical-educational interest, with attention to building a deep understanding of local dynamics and contexts, and clearly contributing to the innovation of traditions of pedagogical-educational theory and qualitative research methods.
Research
We expect the candidate to:
- Develop or further expand a strong and innovative research programme on educational innovation and school development, which complements the research of current senior academic staff (ZAP) of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences in Leuven and Kortrijk;
- Establish collaborations with members of the Research Unit, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (including the subfaculty at KU Leuven Kulak), KU Leuven, as well as with practitioners and relevant research centers in Belgium and abroad;
- Secure external research funding;
- Publish in international peer-reviewed journals;
- Provide high-quality supervision of doctoral research.
Teaching
We expect the candidate to:
- Provide high-quality teaching in the Bachelor’s and/or Master’s programme in Educational Sciences. Potential courses include:: Policy and Organisation in Education ; Educational Innovation and School Development ; Issues in Teacher and School Development ;
- Supervise Master’s theses;
- Contribute actively to the further development of the track ‘Education and formation’ (Onderwijs en Vorming) within the Master’s programme in Educational Sciences and work to enhance the quality and attractiveness of the programme.
